I had a mini internal debate about making this post. But then I thought about how one day I hope Havi will look back at this blog and be reminded of many things - both happy and sad.
Peter and I were both as proud as can be by something Havi did while we were driving to lunch today.
She often takes a pencil and notebook with her in the car and draws pictures to keep herself entertained. They have journals at school in which they draw a picture at the top then write a sentence about it below and she's started doing this at home too.
Today she drew a picture of Charlie then wrote a sentence about him below it. She wrote the sentence with absolutely no help at all and it pretty much sums up how she feels about losing her best furry friend.
Three months after he passed away Charlie is still an every day topic in our house. Each night before lights out Havi asks us to remind her of two silly things he did so we can remember him with a smile. She has a huge picture of him next to her bed and talks about him often.
We knew they were close and we knew it would hit her hard, but we did think as a five year old she'd 'forget' quickly. That's not the case at all, she truly loved that little guy and will remember him forever.
We miss you Charlie Barley.
