Building with Morgan!

This morning we stole Morgan from her parents for a couple of hours and went to the Lowes Build and Grow workshop to make a couple of school lockers, then over to Barnes and Nobles to catch story time before catching back up with Sarah, Marc and Ethan for lunch.

The girls hadn't seen each other in a few weeks and they had such a blast hanging out together for the morning. Fun was had by all!

Havi survived her first week of Kindergarten :-)

The early mornings and five days (versus three) at school have been an easy transition for Havi so far and she's really enjoyed her first week of school.

She's making new friends - Katie, Neomi, Sammy and Jaydn have been mentioned so far.

Her teacher, Mrs. West, seems very nice and the kids all seem to be settling in well in the Bee's classroom

We learned all about how Havi spends each day - with the usual learning (maths, reading, writing, social studies and science) and the 'specials' - theatre arts, art and music. As well as some P.E, recess and play centers time.

All very grown up! *note the new school shoes - she's very proud of them and loves non-P.E days when she gets to wear them :-)

We celebrated the end of the first full week with frozen yogurt! Of course!!

First Day of Kindergarten = Success :-)

August 22nd 2011 - Havi's first day at Kindergarten - or should I say Havana's!

A few months ago when we went to enroll Havana at school there was a question on one of the many forms that asked "Name your child goes by?" - I went to Havi for the answer. When starting Kinder with a whole new set of friends, what name does she want to go by. She picked Havana :-)

Well, it stuck and Havana's first day was today. Not to be confused with the Savanna that's in her class!

She had a wonderful first day. She jumped out of bed at 6.40am when the alarm clock went off - it didn't even have chance to buzz twice. Pretty sure she was awake and waiting for it! She was shocked (as were we) to see it was still dark outside!

By 7.10am we were dressed, breakfast had been eaten, and we were on our way to school - after posing for pictures of course!

... and of course in her classroom!

Then one sneaky one after we'd left.... just to make sure she wasn't following us!

Not a single tear from Havi (the same cannot be said for me), she did admit to being nervous, but excited too.

At 2.25pm Peter and I waited anxiously to hear about her first day. Apparently "lunch was good", "I made new friends", "I kissed my brain" and "had lots of fun"... so I would deem the day a success.

Bring on the rest of the school year!
