Countdown to Kindergarten!

Anxious to start the tour!

On Tuesday we went to Havi's Kinder Round Up to get her registered to start Kindergarten in 152 days!!! She was super excited and we were anxious to see the school as we had no idea what to expect.

After filling in huge amounts of paperwork the Assistant Principal took us on a tour. Havi skipped the whole way! We were more than impressed to see Mac's in every classroom (including 4 in each Kinder classroom) and about 20 in the huge library.

Ohhhh.. shiny!

There are six Kinder classrooms, each with 22 kids - probably the biggest change from the 16:2 student/teacher ratio she has now. They are set out very similar to the classrooms at her pre-school with a home centre, lockers (instead of cubbies), computers, library mat and more. We pinpointed the teacher we'd love her to have and will request her on the forms they have us fill out in May... then cross our fingers. I'm sure any teacher will be fine - but this one reminded me of Auntie Dan in her personality and the way she interacted with the kids on the tour - and that has to be a good thing!

Checking out the home centre in one of the Kinder Classrooms

I think Havi's biggest 'wow' moment was the huge library... she didn't know where to start! We also saw the music room, theatre arts room, gym, computer room, playground and art room.

Which book to check out first?

In the next few months we have Kinder Camp where the kids get to hang out in the classrooms with the teachers while the parents get to learn more about the school and then she starts on August 22nd!! I can't believe she's going to 'big girl' school already! And I can't believe I have to get her to school for 7.45am - currently she wakes up at 7.40am..... :-)

Wasn't she JUST a baby not so long ago?

There's A Frog In The House!

Charlie the class frog - thankfully a stuffed toy - came to stay with us last weekend.

As soon he got home Havi took him out to play :-)

And then made him a bed and tucked him up for the night...

The next day we took him to B&N for story and craft time, then onto the Austin Rodeo for some people watching!

I think he got mad cow disease at the rodeo... but luckily Doctor Havi was able to help!

We finished off the weekend with a lovely trip to the park after he'd recovered from his illness...

All in all we had a hoppy time with Charlie!
