This week was either wet or cold depending on the day... so we stayed curled up at home a lot or found indoor things to do. Peter and Havi went to 'the bouncy place' on Tuesday which tuckered her out and she ended up having a super long nap. So, as a treat she got to stay up late and watch 'Charlie and Lola' on the Mac while Peter and I laughed at American Idol (why does that come on at 7pm, right at Havi's usual bedtime?).
Yesterday was the usual Little Gym and story time combo then we had a great chat with Rosie and Oliver (and Grandma and Granddad) on a Skype video call. Havi was so excited to show Rosie and Oliver around the house while I followed her with the laptop ;-) Even Moo and Charlie got in on the act.
Today was another freezing day so we had a family trip to IKEA of all places!!! After picking out a new storage cabinet for Havi's room and eating meatballs and broccoli while watching The Rescuers in the IKEA cafe we came home and spent the rest of the day huddled inside. OK, so I realize it's probably not that cold... but after living in Texas for ten years... it was REALLY cold. We set up her new storage cabinet and sorted out her toys, drew around her on the cardboard box the cabinet came in and coloured it in and watched Jungle Book.
Jungle Book was a favourite about a year ago, but before today we probably hadn't watched it in about three months. The series of questions that followed the movie were serious.
"Mummy, why is the tiger so mean? Is the snake mean or nice? Is the little girl nice?"
"Mummy, why does he want to go away and stay with the humans?" so I asked her if she lived in a forest with just squirrels, rabbits and deer and couldn't talk to them, maybe she would like to go live with other humans. Nope... her answer "I would just find a bear and a panther that talk." - OK, fine then. Good luck with that :-)
That then lead into a long conversation about bears not really being so friendly and having huge teeth and claws.
We learned a new song this week... Do-Re-Mi and managed to get to 'so', not bad really. Now as I said before... she's a little camera shy at the moment - so enjoy the video of her bedroom floor while she sings her song and close your ears when I sing ;-) I might have to put Sound of Music on our Netflix list.
All in all it was a fun week that of course included dancing in the bath fully clothed...
See you in February!
