It's Santa!

We went shopping at the mall, and look who we bumped into! Havi pulled his beard and it was real... must be the real Santa!

Five Months, Two Weeks and Six Days

It was a wonderful week of trying new things for Havi. She tried banana, rusks and her sippy cup... and likes all three.

She figured out the sippy cup pretty quickly but also enjoyed throwing it on the floor too, it made a good sound! She had 1/8th apple and prune juice to 7/8ths water. Her first taste gave us a nasty look, but then a few more tastes later and she liked it. Her banana disappeared in seconds, mashed in with her cereal. Yummy.

On Friday we went for dinner with Havi's little friend Denis (and his Mum and Dad, Ece and Jeremy). Havana showed off as we were leaving and squeaked funny noises at him, he was not impressed! They did part with a little eskimo nose rub - very cute.

Havana is now sitting up very straight and doesn't have too many topples over. Dad sat her in her duck bath in the bathroom while he took a shower (with no water in it of course) and she loved it as she couldn't fall over, I did the same today with some toys and she thinks it's pretty funny.

Five Months, One Week and Six Days

We took our first big trip last weekend to Houston to see Nana Bea. Havi was so good on the car ride... on the way there she slept for almost 2 hours and on the way back we had a pit stop half way just so she could be set free from the car seat for a while.
She had a wonderful time meeting Bea and Angel (a little pup that Bea was dogsitting).

Other milestones this past week or so include sitting up really straight with no crazy topples, munching on a rusk and remembering her babbling voice again after doing an impression of a lion for a week and growling all day! We also got some bath toys and she loves having the water sprinkled on her head - so we stick the heater on in the bathroom and play for a while.
Lots of splashy fun.

Havana can now stick almost her whole foot in her mouth too... apparently the toe fluff tastes lovely!

Daddy got a new car today, a Rolls Royce. Havi looked pretty swanky "driving" it.

Next big trip is England - only 37 days to go!

Five Months and Four Days

This week was Halloween - Havi had her lion costume but didn't get to go trick or treating as she was SUPER tired by the time I got home from work. She fell asleep in the middle of her supper! She did get to wear her fancy Halloween outfit (courtesy of Colleen) during the day though - she loved the witches on her toes!

Havi is now going to bed at 7pm every night and waking just once at 4am before getting up for the day at 6.30 - 7am. Pretty good really! I think she's liking being in her big girls crib in her own room. Sometimes she plays for half an hour by herself when she wakes up and Daddy and I listen to her babbling through the monitor.

Only 47 days until we go to England! EXCITING! We sent Santa a letter telling him where to find Havi.

BREAKING NEWS - NOVEMBER 3rd, 2006 - FIRST ROLL OVER

Colleen called me today to tell me that Havana rolled over for the first time! Because Havi has to be different (she got a fang first instead of the normal bottom front tooth) she rolled from her back to her front first... not the normal front to back! She is a moving fool these days, she often wakes herself up at night because she turns from facing head to foot in her crib to side to side!

Four Months and Four Weeks

Havi is doing so well with her solid food... she has either rice cereal with applesauce or with prunes. We have barely got the spoon out of her mouth and it's wide open ready for the next bite!!! She also chatters while she's eating which is hilarious.

Tonight the clocks change... so we shall see how that effects her wonderful sleeping habits she's had since moving into her own room. Also she went to bed with rosy cheeks tonight, I wonder if that means more teeth are on the way?

Tomorrow we're going to find a pumpkin patch and get some photo's taken in her Halloween outfit. Cute! I'll post the pics tomorrow.

Four Months and Three Weeks

Well, Havana has had a busy week, she's got her first tooth, started having cereal with applesauce for a dinner time treat and tonight she is asleep in her cot in her own room - I don't think I'm going to get much sleep but she is in dreamland!

We also got our tickets for Christmas this week... we'll be in England from December 21st until January 2nd and we're all SO excited. Havana thinks she might see Santa out the window of the plane exercising the reindeer for Christmas Eve! We're going to have a busy couple of weeks but we're looking forward to introducing Havi to everyone.

First tooth and sitting up!

Havana decided to be a little different and her first tooth to poke through is actually her upper right fang! Not one of her lower front teeth like most babies. Apparently her cousin Oliver did this too! Havi gave Colleen the pleasure of being part of her tooth breakthrough - luckily we had an expert handling it... who then had to show us the tooth as we couldn't find it!

The votes are in - we can safely say that Miss Havana is sitting :-)

Four Months, Two Weeks and One Day

Well, Grandma and Granddad had a great trip, we took them to the zoo and to lots of traditional Austin eating spots, as the weather is finally getting cooler she got to wear some of her pretty dresses to go out in. Havi got to stay up late and go on a boat to see the bats leaving the Congress bridge - and we got pooped on!

We haven't had anymore rice cereal since our last attempt as Havana just isn't really bothered and we're not convinced she needs it yet. She's now going 2.5 hours to 3 hours between feedings during the day, up from 2 hours. When she has a bottle with Daddy or Colleen she's having about 5oz per bottle.

I got her crib in her own room all ready for her to try out, but I'm nervous about putting her to sleep at night in there. She had a nap in there today and had her leg was sticking through the bars when she woke up... so I put the bumper pads on. We'll let her get used to having naps in there before we try her at night.

Today we booked our flights for Christmas... we'll be landing in Manchester at 8.30am on December 21st. SO EXCITED! Havana can't wait to meet everyone... plus she wants it to snow :-)

Granddad Alan and Grandma Margaret are here!

Granddad Alan and Grandma Margaret are here! Yippee! Havana has shown them the Capitol and sent them off to Fredericksburg and Hamilton's Pool.

She had her four month doctors appointment on Wednesday and weighs 14lbs 15.5oz and is 25 1/4 inches long. So, tall and skinny with thunder thighs :-) She also had more vaccinations and got a daffy duck plaster and a bugs bunny plaster this time. She was really good but was a little fussy the day after. Granddad and Grandma thought the doctors office was pretty cool with the themed rooms and collectible toys. Now everyone that has visited us has had a trip to the doctors with Havi too.

Today she had her first spoonfuls of rice cereal... she actually did pretty well swallowing it, but some came back to say hello!

Four Months Old - HAPPY 1/3rd of a Year BIRTHDAY!

This week Havana found her feet and her voice! She is now constantly holding her feet and they're getting closer to
being in her mouth every day! We've also stopped swaddling her at night and since then she has started talking herself to sleep! Just like her Daddy - a talker! We lay on the bed next to her crib and just laugh, talking away to no-one in particular... very cute!

She's also SO close to sitting up on her own... she flops over onto her legs but pushes herself up as mush as she can, then topples over. So close. She's also very close to rolling over from her back to her front... it'll all be happening in the next week I'm sure.

We got Havi a high chair this week, ready for her first taste of solid food soon. She has her 4 month doctors check up on Wednesday so we'll talk to her pediatrician about it then, probably just a couple of teaspoons of rice cereal to start off with. At the moment she just likes sitting up like a "big person" playing with her toys in the high chair.

Tomorrow Granddad Alan and Grandma Margaret get here - very exciting.

Three Months, Three Weeks and Four Days

The weather is finally cooling down and we actually had to wrap Havana up for her walk this morning... it was about 65 degrees but the wind was cold. She has lots of CUTE clothes for colder weather so I'm excited!

Only one week until Granddad Alan and Grandma Margaret get here. I think they're going to be pleasantly surprised by Austin.

We measured Havana today and she is 25 inches long, last week when we popped into the pediatricians to show Granddad Chris how cool it was, we weighed her and she was 14lbs 7oz.
So she's probably about 14lbs 11oz now. Most of that being on her chunky legs!

Three Months, Three Weeks, and One Day

A lot has happened since we last updated the blog... I'm going to make sure it gets updated at least once a week from now on.

Granddad was here until the 16th of September and Havi took him to the zoo, the capitol, lots of restaurants and long walks. We had so much fun while he was here. Granddad and Daddy even went to the shooting range... not really a baby friendly place so Havi and Mum stayed home.

Next set of visitors is Granddad Alan and Grandma Margaret, they get here on October 1st. Yeah!

We're still waiting for another giggle quite as excitable as the first... but she's on the verge of being a giggling machine!

This week Mum went for her first out of town trip, just for one night to LA. Daddy and Havi hung out together doing fun stuff like jumping in the jumperoo (Daddy didn't fit in it very easily), story telling and singing in the bouncy chair and cuddles on the couch! Havana was a little confused to get Daddy and a bottle at 1am... but it's food, she got over it! Mummy nearly went nutty when there was a possibility that her flight home wouldn't be leaving until the next morning - meaning two nights away... but all got fixed and I got home just in time for her 1am feed.

Havana is now a big girl and facing forwards in her pushchair... no longer in the car seat attachment. She loves it, she gets to see the world. We've been on a few walks like that now and there's no more falling asleep, too much to see! Her favourite thing to do is see if she can fit both her hands in her mouth together, so almost every picture has her face covered by hands now.

Tomorrow we're going to meet up with three babies (and their Mum's) who have been born since Havana. That's Jen and Jack, Kelly and Murphy and Kelly and Ian. I'll post pictures of that meeting this weekend.
